A stay at the Luminary Hotel & Co. puts you right in the heart of the action in the Fort Myers River District. The Florida Rep, Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center, and Burroughs Home & Gardens are all just a stroll away, and if you time your visit right, you can be in town for the monthly Music and Art Walks downtown.

The 12-story, AAA Four Diamond hotel, part of Marriott International’s Autograph Collection, overlooks the Caloosahatchee River that gives the district its name. You can take in the views from the stylish guest rooms and suites, which feature luxe bedding, upscale bath products, and flat-screen TVs.

Dining options are plentiful. The hotel’s signature restaurant, the Silver King Ocean Brasserie, recently introduced a new menu featuring à la carte steaks and entrées such as whole snapper, braised duck gnocchi, and seared grouper just right for a special meal. The recently refreshed rooftop Beacon Social Drinkery is a great place to start or end an evening with a cocktail accompanied by sweeping river views.

For more casual fare, there’s the retro Ella Mae’s Diner, Dean Street Coffee Roastery, and the new Chips Sports Pub. Book one of the Topgolf Swing Suites offering all kinds of virtual games, or just grab a seat at the bar to enjoy a menu of pub fare.

You can work off an indulgent meal at the on-site fitness center or with a walk along the river. Or if relaxation is more your speed, head to the fourth-floor pool overlooking the Caloosahatchee or sit back and enjoy a river cruise.

Be sure to check the schedule at the nearby Caloosa Sound Amphitheater to see if anyone’s on stage during your stay. And you’ll want to plan a visit to the Edison & Ford Winter Estates just down the road, the one-time seasonal homes of two of the local luminaries who inspired the hotel’s name and overall vibe.
