Free Wading Trips in Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve
The Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve has announced its spring wading trips schedule. Trips are led by environmental specialists from the preserve and encourage participants to discover firsthand why estuaries are known as the cradles of the ocean.
Participants will take a refreshing journey into the waters of the bay, wading into mudflats and seagrass beds at low tide to view the many plants and animals that call the estuary home. Dip nets and seine nets will be provided for the collection of organisms such as fish, shrimp, crabs and snails, while preserve staff explain the roles each creature plays in the ecosystem.
Participants are required to wear closed-toe shoes that can get wet and a swimsuit or shorts. For more information, contact Kelsey Lang at 239-530-1003.
