Shelves and Shelves of Fun: Local Libraries Can Keep You Entertained This Summer

Beat the heat and head to your local public library for something entertaining and educational to do this summer. In addition to traditional book borrowing, adults and children alike can also borrow DVDs, birdwatching kits, and puzzles; learn new library apps, and enjoy reading programs and storytimes. Cardholders can even borrow video games or play them right at the library. Libraries offer a variety of events and activities such as craft classes, discussion groups, special programs for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs for older kids and teens.

Most local libraries run annual summer reading programs for kids. For details, check out the events calendar on each library’s website.
